Sitting for hours without moving? But the threat of cancer is inevitable.. Be careful!

Cancer is a deadly disease. This pandemic claims millions of lives every year worldwide.

However people do not properly understand the seriousness of the disease in life. Many of us do not know that cancer can be caused due to improper lifestyle. When we sit for long periods of time without being active, it can lead to metabolic problems, chronic inflammation, changes in hormones, and excess body weight. Recent studies have found a strong link between sedentary behavior and cancer prevalence.

Sitting too much and not moving is called sedentary behavior. Recent studies have found that sedentary behavior increases the risk of developing various cancers such as colorectal, endometrial, ovarian, and prostate cancer. This study emphasizes that sedentary behavior is closely related to the spread of cancer. A study found that the most sedentary group had a 13 percent higher risk of cancer. Another study reported that sedentary time increases overall cancer risk.

Prolonged sitting has been reported to increase cancer mortality, especially in women. There is a significant association between cancer, breast colorectal, endometrial, epithelial ovarian cancer. Moreover, it is positively associated with colon cancer and endometrial cancer. WHO revealed that 30 to 40 percent of cancer cases can be prevented by changing lifestyle.

People who sit still and watch TV for hours have an effect on colon and endometrial cancer…says the study. Watching TV, drinking sweet drinks and eating junk foods also cause this cancer. Being physically active and reducing sedentary time may play an important role in preventing cancer.
