Caffeine: While you don’t have to eliminate caffeine entirely, moderation is key. Caffeine, being a diuretic, can cause rapid dehydration. Excessive caffeine intake can also hinder blood flow to the placenta, potentially resulting in low birth weight or, in severe cases, miscarriage. Limit your daily caffeine intake to a maximum of 200 ml or two cups, and be vigilant about hidden caffeine in medications and other beverages.

Sugar: Sugar cravings may intensify during pregnancy, but be cautious before indulging in sugary treats. Excessive sugar intake can lead to elevated blood sugar levels, putting the developing fetus at risk of conditions like metabolic syndrome and diabetes. While occasional treats are fine, avoid making them a regular habit.
