Diabetes: Wow.. are there so many sugar sufferers in the country?  ICMR revealed sensational things

Diseases that once did not exist are now gradually spreading due to the food we eat. Especially diseases like BP, sugar and heart attacks are increasing exponentially. Diabetes is one of the most common diseases. The Indian Metabolic Health Report released recently by ICMR revealed key issues. It said that 11.4 percent of people in the country i.e. more than ten crores are suffering from diabetes and 35.5 percent of people have high blood pressure (BP). In this study conducted to estimate the burden of non-communicable diseases in 31 states/UTs across the country, BP, obesity etc. Samples were collected from a total of 1,13,043 people and this report was prepared.

Goa, Puducherry, Kerala, Chandigarh and Delhi are in the top 5 states, while Telangana is 17th and Andhra Pradesh is 19th. According to the report, 9.9% in Telangana and 9.5% in Andhra Pradesh have diabetes. Kerala (25.5%), Tamil Nadu (14.4%) and Karnataka (10.6%) have higher number of people suffering from diabetes than these two states. Also, in Telugu states, 10 to 14.9 percent people are in prediabetic condition, more than 30 percent people are suffering from BP and more than 25 percent people are suffering from obesity. The report states that Telugu states are in the red zone in terms of blood pressure, obesity and triglycerides. However, compared to rural areas across the country, non-communicable diseases are more common in urban areas. It revealed that diabetes is 16.4 percent in urban areas and 8.9 percent in villages.
